Carissa George is a mixed media portrait artist who uses her practice to heal from her lived experience of domestic violence. Through her work, she champions women’s empowerment and brings awareness to domestic violence within the community, sharing her story to encourage connection, inspire others and give voice to difficult experiences.
Previous photoshoots had delivered beautiful images, but the polished styling and predominantly smiling portraits didn’t reflect Carissa’s everyday personality or the subjects behind her work. She needed photographs that felt more natural and aligned with her message, giving her relevant content to share her story, creative process and daily life as an artist.
We divided the shoot between artist profile portraits in the gallery and relaxed, process-focused imagery in her workspace. The resulting collection balanced professional presence with quieter moments of Carissa creating and simply being herself, giving her a versatile image library to share both the artist and the story behind her work.
